"The U" Mountain Bike Stage Race is widely regarded as the holy grail of trail in mountain biking circles simply because there is no other stage race like it in South Africa! Its network of trails are completely exclusive to the point where the only way to access them is by personal invitation, joining in on one of the pre event recce rides or by riding the 1 day Piket-Bo-Berg Cycle Challenge & Trail Run. The trails themselves are remarkable with the event being made up of 98% single track! Riding these trails is a true test of your technical skill set and fitness as they are not easy and need to be well prepared for. The off the bike experience is equally as world class. With a sold out field of 250 riders, the race village experience is pure class with riders being able to enjoy gin tastings, gourmet food and great music! With all of this in mind, let's head out onto the trails to take a look at the prologue route!

With an intimate field of only 200 riders, The 'U' MTB Stage Race is fast becoming one of those must rides on the annual two-wheeled calendar. Hosted by the Starke family on the Mouton's Valley farm of the Piket-bo-berg, The 'U' is one of those feel good weekends. With three days of incredible trails, good vibes and unreal scenery, this event certainly is something special. The Prologue sets the tone but Episode 1 is the real deal.
